Job Description:

Ths Driver/Food Handlers will be responsible for the pick-up, loading, and proper handling of food items. A predetermined list of locations and a route for pick-up will be provided, along with training and proper tools necessary to fulfill the job’s obligations. The Driver/ Food Handler will also use a company vehicle to assist staff with the transportation of residents, pets, and donations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive a company vehicle
  • Help transport Our Place residents as assigned
  • Ensure vehicle is ready for use prior to operating the vehicle daily (e.g. proper temperature in the food storage compartment; sufficient fuel)
  • Take and record internal temperatures of food items at all stores while in vehicle and upon delivery to identified locations
  • Document donated items
  • Maintain trip logs with details, such as passenger count, route details, etc.
  • Document vehicle issues, route details, fuel intakes and maintenance in respective logs
  • Help maintain and keep the truck clean and operational
  • Provide daily inspections and report any issues to management
  • Assist Our Place staff with other transportation needs
  • Attend meetings and trainings as assigned
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Valid NV driver’s license required
  • Ability to secure Nevada Food Handler Card
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions
  • Understanding and concern for the issue of homelessness
  • Able to work with people of diverse social backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to track and maintain records

Compensation: $14 an Hour

Other Requirements: 

  • Criminal background check clearance is a requirement for hire
